Smart Braille Blocks
What: Created a prototype to enable visually-impaired children to independently learn Braille and build confidence in self-directed learning through engaging interactive experiences.
How: Collaborated with team of 8 to design letter blocks with RFID chips using Autodesk Inventor. Users spell out a word by placing letters on a sensor and device provides audio output of the complete word. I was responsible for corresponding with local elementary school to effectively refine prototype based on feedback to maximize its intuitiveness and user-friendliness. Reached out to various Braille organizations to discuss collaboration on prototype designs.
Why: Learning Braille often requires parental supervision, which can be time-consuming and challenging. Our product enables young children to learn Braille independently and efficiently, fostering independence and making the process more accessible for busy families.
Results: Pitched our product to top investors and tech executives for funding, effectively developing communication, collaboration, and public speaking skills.
